U.S. President Donald Trump shared details of his most recent conversation with Senator Lindsey Graham. According to him, the conversation took place immediately after the senator returned from Ukraine.

According to the U.S. president, during the phone call, Graham mentioned that he had just returned from Ukraine. Trump noted that it had been a long trip, to which the senator replied that he was feeling a little tired.

“He spoke well, but sounded a little tired. And he had every reason to be tired. He was a real hard worker,” Trump said.

He also noted that Graham had promoted the “Save America” bill with great enthusiasm.

“I said, ‘We’ll do it, Lindsey. We’ll definitely do it,’” the U.S. president recounted.

According to Trump, at the end of the conversation, they agreed to meet in the near future and even suggested that the meeting might take place the very next day.

Shortly thereafter, Trump received a message from a staff member in Graham’s office informing him of the senator’s death.

“Maybe that was his last phone call. I don’t know for sure, but around 1 a.m., I received a message from one of his staff members saying that he had died. I said, ‘I just can’t believe it.’ To me, he was like family,” Trump said in an interview with NBC News.

On the evening of July 11, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and ally of Donald Trump died in the U.S. at the age of 72. According to the politician’s office, he passed away following a sudden and brief illness.
