Trump responded to Prince Harry, who called on the U.S. to do more for Ukraine — Sky News
While speaking with reporters, U.S. President Donald Trump sharply criticized Prince Harry’s calls for increased support for Ukraine.
This was reported by Sky News.
The American leader emphasized that he does not consider the British monarch’s younger son to be a legitimate representative of the United Kingdom’s interests.
The conflict arose after Prince Harry, during a visit to Kyiv, appealed to world leaders to take more active steps to end the war.
Journalists asked the White House chief whether he considers such advice appropriate, especially ahead of King Charles III’s official visit to Washington.
“Prince Harry does not speak on behalf of the United Kingdom, that’s for sure. I think I speak on behalf of the United Kingdom more than Prince Harry does. But I really appreciate his advice. Great advice,” the U.S. president replied ironically.
Despite his sarcastic tone regarding the prince’s political appeals, the American leader asked the press about Harry and his wife Meghan Markle.
He asked media representatives to convey his regards to the couple, while clearly drawing a line between private relationships and public policy.
The US president focused primarily on his upcoming meeting with the British monarch, whom he called a close friend.
“King Charles is coming to visit us; he is my friend. We are really looking forward to it,” Trump emphasized as he prepared to receive the distinguished guest.
In Kyiv, Prince Harry called on the U.S. to take a leadership role in the war between Russia and Ukraine
As a reminder, Prince Harry made his third visit to Ukraine—this time, the trip took place without an official announcement.
Prior to this, ahead of the fourth anniversary of the full-scale invasion, Prince Harry recorded a video message to Ukrainians, in which he shared his impressions from his visits to Ukraine over the past year.
Prince Harry recently appeared on an episode of the American show “The Late Show,” where he performed in a comedy sketch in which he joked about U.S. President Donald Trump.
