Trump Announced Plans to Meet with Kim Jong Un — Politico
U.S. President Donald Trump said he plans to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un this year. The U.S. president made the announcement on Wednesday.
The U.S. president made the remarks while showing reporters his new helipad on the White House grounds.
“Yes, I will,” Trump said in response to a question about whether he plans to meet with Kim later this year.
Trump did not provide any further details about the meeting.
“He has 57 very powerful nuclear warheads,” Trump said, referring to Kim Jong Un’s arsenal. “This should never have been allowed; they should never have allowed it—if I were president, I would never have allowed it,” he added.
Trump recently announced that he is scaling back joint military exercises with South Korea. These exercises have long been a source of irritation for the North Korean dictator, who views them as preparation for war.
“I get along very well with Kim Jong Un. Everything will be fine with him. As long as we have a smart president, everything will be fine with him,” Trump said.

The U.S. has changed its tactics regarding Iran — CNN.
The U.S. has sufficient military resources to maintain a naval blockade of Iran indefinitely. U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hagseth stated that American ships can continuously rotate in the region, so Washington is capable of maintaining pressure on Tehran for as long as necessary.
