Trump announced plans to speak with Xi Jinping about Iran – CNN
U.S. President Donald Trump said he plans to hold an extended conversation with Chinese leader Xi Jinping regarding the war with Iran. At the same time, he stressed that he does not consider it necessary to involve China as a mediator to resolve the conflict.
CNN reported this on May 13.
“I don’t think we need any help in Iran. We will win one way or another. We will win peacefully or by any other means,” the White House chief told reporters.
When asked what message he would like to convey to Xi Jinping regarding Iran, Trump replied:
“To be honest, I think he (presumably Xi Jinping – ed.) has behaved relatively well. Look at the blockade—no problems. They get most of their oil from that region. We haven’t had any problems. And he’s my friend,” the U.S. president stated.
Just a few minutes later, Trump downplayed the importance of discussing Iran with China, stating that the U.S. “has the situation largely under control.” He added that trade would be the main topic of discussion with Xi Jinping.
“We have a lot of issues to discuss. To be honest, I wouldn’t say Iran is among them, because we are in complete control of the situation in Iran. Either we make a deal, or they will be crushed,” Trump concluded.
Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump, speaking to the press ahead of his visit to China, expressed his conviction that the war unleashed by Russia is in its final stages.
Earlier, on May 7, Rustem Umerov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council and head of the Ukrainian negotiating team, arrived in Miami, Florida, for talks with U.S. representatives.
In reality, Russia is not committed to a genuine end to the war with Ukraine. All so-called negotiations, including those mediated by the U.S., are merely a sham on Moscow’s part.
