Trump announced a shift in U.S. priorities regarding the war in Ukraine

U.S. President Donald Trump explained why Ukraine has currently taken a back seat for Washington. According to him, the United States is now more focused on the situation in Iran than on Russia’s war against Ukraine.

Citing Forbes, Trump made this statement in response to a question from journalists.

What Trump said about Ukraine

When asked directly about peace talks, the U.S. president did not give a specific answer.

"Ukraine is moving forward. I would like them to be able to reach an agreement. To be honest, many people are dying in Ukraine. We’ll see what happens," he said.

Iran is the priority

Trump made it clear where his focus lies right now.

"Right now, we’re very focused on Iran; we’re seeing if we can wrap this up," he said.

According to him, the deal with Iran will be “nuclear-free.” He also noted that the stock market is in good shape and oil prices are falling—which he considers positive signs.

At the same time, Trump announced a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the President of Lebanon. According to him, both sides are ready for a ceasefire that would also involve “Hezbollah.”

Negotiations on Iran are ongoing

When asked about specific dates for the next round of negotiations, Trump gave a vague response.

"They are all important. That is, this is not a matter of a single round. They are all next," said the U.S. president.
