Trump said that Iran is not yet ready for a deal
U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Iran is allegedly interested in reaching agreements with the United States; however, in his view, Tehran is not yet ready for serious negotiations. At the same time, the American leader highlighted the success of the military operation against Iran and the significant weakening of its military capabilities.
According to the U.S. president, the situation in Iran is currently developing in Washington’s favor. He urged people not to trust reports he called false and stated that U.S. strikes had inflicted significant damage on Iran’s military capabilities. “Everything is going extremely well in Iran. Don’t believe the fake news,” Trump said.
He claimed that the U.S. had allegedly dealt a powerful blow to Iran’s military infrastructure and deprived the country of a significant portion of its capabilities. “We hit Iran very hard. They no longer have a navy or an air force,” the U.S. president stated.
Trump also added that Iran has far fewer drones left, despite reports to the contrary in the open media. According to the White House, some contact is currently taking place between the parties. He claims that the Iranian authorities would like to reach an agreement but are not yet ready for serious negotiations. “They would very much like to reach an agreement, but I don’t think they’re ready for it. I don’t think the time is right yet,” Trump said.
At the same time, the U.S. president stated that he is ready to listen to proposals from Iranian representatives if they concern a possible resolution to the conflict. “I’m always ready to listen to what they have to offer,” Trump noted.
Previously, there had been prolonged disputes between the U.S. and Iran over Tehran’s nuclear program, military activity in the region, and sanctions. Any future agreements between the countries will depend on the positions of both sides and their willingness to compromise. The U.S. leader made these remarks at a dinner hosted by the White House Correspondents’ Association.
As a reminder, Trump threatened to strike Iran’s bridges and power plants.
Trump stated that Putin and Xi had promised not to supply weapons to Iran.
