Trump claimed that he has the highest IQ among U.S. presidents
U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he has the “highest IQ” and a special aptitude for understanding new technologies. The American leader also claimed that he understands modern technologies better than any other U.S. president.
The conversation about intelligence came up during a discussion of artificial intelligence. Journalists asked Trump if he trusts OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. The U.S. president replied that he likes Altman and called him smart. He made similar remarks about Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei.
“They’re all smart. We’re dealing with a very high IQ. Very, very high. That’s good. I like that,” Trump said.
Trump then mentioned his uncle, who worked at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) for 41 years. It was then that the U.S. president moved on to assessing his own intelligence.
“I have the highest IQ. The highest. I’m fine, and I understand these things,” he said.
Trump also said that he “believes in genetics.” According to him, he has a knack for understanding new technological trends and believes he understands them better than other U.S. presidents.
During the interview, Trump generally spoke positively about the development of artificial intelligence in the U.S. At the same time, journalists drew the president’s attention to Americans’ concerns: according to data cited by the publication, 57% believe that AI will do more harm than good, and 71% oppose the construction of data centers.
Trump acknowledged that he might not be able to convince Americans to change their minds, but he emphasized the economic benefits such facilities bring to communities.
