Trump says US trade with Ireland is more beneficial for Ireland
In Dublin, Ireland, US President Donald Trump said after a meeting with Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin that bilateral trade is highly profitable for Ireland but less beneficial for the United States. According to him, relations between Washington and Dublin have never been as good as they are now.
US-Ireland relations
Trump praised the long-standing ties between the two countries and said the United States would maintain strong relations with Ireland. As reported by Anadolu Agency, he also spoke about a previous meeting with Irish President Catherine Connolly.
According to Trump, energy supplies to Europe and Northern Ireland were discussed during that meeting. He noted the complexity of relations between communities on both sides of the Irish border and supported closer ties, which, in his view, would benefit people on the island of Ireland.

Statements on Canada and Mexico
Separately, Trump spoke about trade relations with Canada and Mexico, defending his administration's approach to the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement. In response to a question about a possible US withdrawal from the agreement, he dismissed that assumption, emphasized relations with Mexico, and described ties with Canada as good but economically unfair to Washington.
Trump accused Canada of taking advantage of its relations with the United States for decades and said some Canadian tariffs for American farmers reach 400%. According to him, Canada seeks to conclude a new agreement, and a deal can be reached fairly quickly if tariff issues and other differences are resolved.
