US President Donald Trump met Chinese President Xi Jinping at Joint Base Andrews near Washington after the Chinese leader arrived for a three-day state visit to the US capital. American military aircraft flew over the air base during the meeting, Anadolu Agency reports.
Talks at the White House
On Thursday, Trump is scheduled to host Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan at the White House. The program includes a state arrival ceremony, a military review in the Rose Garden and a bilateral meeting between the leaders.
In the evening, Trump and First Lady Melania Trump will host a state dinner for the Chinese president and his wife in the East Room of the White House. On Friday, both couples are expected to meet again at the White House before Xi Jinping’s departure.

Trade, rare-earth minerals and artificial intelligence
According to US officials, the topics of the talks will include trade, rare-earth minerals and artificial intelligence. Trump said the meeting would involve many different agreements and expressed expectations that it would be very good.
The US president also mentioned tariffs on Chinese goods, which, he said, had previously reached 145% and were later reduced. A number of US business leaders are expected at the state dinner, including Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, Sundar Pichai, Michael Dell, Jensen Huang, Sam Altman, Jane Fraser and Tim Cook. This is Xi Jinping’s first state visit to Washington in more than a decade.
