The IDF struck Hezbollah tunnels in southern Lebanon; an earthquake was recorded
An earthquake measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale was recorded in southern Lebanon following powerful explosions that rocked the area of Hezbollah’s underground infrastructure. The Israeli military announced that it had destroyed the group’s tunnels.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the earthquake occurred in southern Lebanon following reports of powerful explosions. At the same time, Israel stated that its military had destroyed Hezbollah’s underground infrastructure.
The Times of Israel, citing AFP journalists, reported a powerful explosion accompanied by underground tremors.
“AFP journalists reported a powerful explosion that caused underground tremors, and (Israeli) Defense Minister Israel Katz posted photos showing a fireball exploding in the sky,” the publication writes.
The tremors recorded had a magnitude of 4.1.
The IDF press service reported that an operation was carried out in southern Lebanon and that the group’s underground infrastructure was destroyed.
According to the Israeli army, tunnel infrastructure in the Ali al-Tahir mountain range area was destroyed.

“The IDF has destroyed underground infrastructure in the area of the Ali at-Tahir Ridge,” according to a statement from the Israeli Army’s press service.

Thus, the earthquake in southern Lebanon coincided with powerful explosions which, according to Israel, were linked to the destruction of “Hezbollah’s” underground facilities.

In Lebanon, Hezbollah stated that the government is failing to fulfill its duties amid intensifying Israeli attacks in the south of the country. The party’s statement refers to killings, shelling, the destruction of homes, and the systematic destruction of settlements, which, according to Hezbollah, are taking place amid international silence and the inaction of the Lebanese authorities.
The United States has imposed new sanctions on companies and individuals who, according to Washington, are assisting the Lebanese group Hezbollah and other Iran-linked forces in the Middle East. The restrictions target entities and individuals in Iraq, the United Arab Emirates, Lebanon, and Turkey.
