Turkey has detained militants in Syria suspected of carrying out terrorist attacks
Turkish intelligence services carried out an operation in Syria and detained 10 individuals linked to the terrorist organization "Islamic State."
This was reported by the Anadolu Agency, citing sources within security agencies.
Turkish intelligence services detained 10 militants from the terrorist group “Islamic State” (IS) in Syria and transported them to Turkish territory.
According to sources, the operation was carried out in coordination with Syrian intelligence. All those detained are linked to terrorist attacks carried out in Turkey in previous years.
As noted by the Anadolu Agency, all suspects are of Turkish origin. One of them, according to available information, was linked to the organizers of a major terrorist attack in 2015 near the train station in Ankara, which killed more than 100 people.
Sources also reported that another of the detainees previously held the position of head of ISIS intelligence for the Turkish sector.
The detainees have been charged with military training, propaganda activities, as well as planning and supporting terrorist attacks.
Earlier, Turkey joined the negotiations between Ukraine and Russia.
Between January and April 2026, Turkey reduced imports of Russian goods by $3.5 billion, or 22.8%, compared to the same period last year.
