Turkey has filed a request regarding an Interpol "red notice" for Netanyahu
The Turkish Ministry of Justice has asked the country’s Ministry of the Interior to issue a “red notice” through Interpol for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Ankara links this request to legal proceedings regarding the Israeli military’s interception of a humanitarian aid flotilla bound for the Gaza Strip.
According to NDTV World, Turkish Justice Minister Akin Gürlek stated that the request also concerns Afek Moskovich. According to the Turkish ministry, the proceedings involve charges of crimes against humanity, genocide, aggravated deprivation of liberty, intentional assault and battery, torture, destruction of property, aggravated looting, and the seizure of vehicles.
The Turkish news agency IHA identifies Moskovich as an Israeli soldier who is also accused of actions in Gaza. According to the agency, citing the indictment, he posted a video on Instagram showing tanks and a bulldozer destroying buildings at the Islamic University of Gaza, including a hospital and the medical school.

The Global Sumud flotilla, which consisted of about 50 vessels and approximately 430 activists, set sail from Turkey in May. The Israeli military detained the participants in the Mediterranean Sea, after which they were taken to an Israeli prison and later deported. The interception of the flotilla sparked an international outcry; France, Italy, and Australia also initiated legal proceedings.
Netanyahu’s office stated that Israel was not impressed by Turkey’s hypocrisy and called President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan an anti-Semitic dictator. Erdogan’s office, in response, called these statements outrageous and accused Netanyahu’s government of trying to evade responsibility.
The two sides also exchanged accusations regarding the situation in Syria. Israel stated that it would counter Turkey’s attempts to destabilize the region; this was linked to previous claims about Ankara’s intentions to establish a military presence in Syria. Earlier, Syrian authorities reported an Israeli strike on an airbase near the Turkish border.
