In Bangladesh, an albino water buffalo nicknamed Donald Trump escaped being sacrificed during Eid al-Adha celebrations after authorities intervened.

This was reported by Reuters.

The animal was named after U.S. President Donald Trump because of its red mane, which resembled his hairstyle.

The rare albino buffalo had previously been sold for ritual slaughter, but the story sparked a major public outcry.

Bangladesh’s Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed intervened, insisting that the animal not be sacrificed but instead be transported to the national zoo in Dhaka.

“At the last minute, a decision was made not to sacrifice the buffalo due to safety concerns and the unusually high level of public interest,” a ministry representative stated.

The buyer of the buffalo was refunded.

Local residents flocked to the farm to see the unusual animal, and photos of it went viral on social media.

According to the farm owner, his brother came up with the buffalo’s name because of the animal’s resemblance to Donald Trump.
