Merts' bloc called for an agreement with Ukraine on the exchange of drone technology
Alexander Hoffmann, chair of the Bavarian Christian Social Union (CSU) state group in the Bundestag, called for the conclusion of an intergovernmental agreement between Germany and Ukraine on cooperation in the field of unmanned technologies.
According to the politician, Germany will continue to support Ukraine under any circumstances. He emphasized that, thanks to the war, Kyiv has gained significant experience in developing unmanned systems and countering drones and cruise missiles.
Hoffmann noted that Germany must be prepared to rapidly scale up drone production if necessary. To this end, he believes it is worth leveraging Ukrainian technological advancements.
“We say: Germany must participate in these defense innovations to strengthen its own defense capabilities and deterrence capacity. That is why we are calling for the conclusion of an intergovernmental agreement with Kyiv, in which the Ukrainian side would commit to sharing its technological capabilities with us,” the CSU representative stated.
He proposed concluding an agreement under which Ukraine would transfer to Germany a portion of its technological developments in the field of unmanned systems. At the same time, Hoffmann acknowledged that Kyiv is currently withholding some of its developments for military-strategic reasons.
According to him, such cooperation could serve as a kind of “dividend” for the support Germany provides to Ukraine.

As a reminder, Germany will allocate funding for the purchase of 50,000 attack drones for the Ukrainian Defense Forces. The delivery of these drones is intended to enhance the Ukrainian military’s capabilities on the battlefield.
