Funeral prayers for Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid, the brother of Dubai’s ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, will be held in Dubai, UAE, on Tuesday, September 22. According to The National, participants will gather at the Grand Zabeel Mosque from 1:00 p.m.
Condolences reception
Condolences will be received at the Zabeel Majlis for three days. On Tuesday, the reception will begin at 4:00 p.m. and continue until the evening Maghrib prayer. On Wednesday and Thursday, condolences will be received in the morning from 10:00 a.m. until the noon Dhuhr prayer, and in the evening from after the Asr prayer until Maghrib.
The death of Sheikh Ahmed, which occurred on September 21, was announced on Monday. A 10-day mourning period has been introduced in Dubai. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid wrote on social network X that his brother had disappeared from view but would remain in prayers and hearts.

UAE President Sheikh Mohammed stated that Sheikh Ahmed had made a lasting contribution to the country’s development since its founding. Among those who offered condolences to Sheikh Mohammed were Bahrain’s King Hamad, Oman’s Sultan Haitham, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Sheikh Ahmed was deputy chairman of Dubai Police and chairman of ARM Holding Group, a private investment company from the UAE. He was also president of Al Wasl Sports Club, founded the Jebel Ali Racecourse in 1990, and contributed to the club’s success over several decades.
