13 soldiers killed in fighting with Houthis in Yemen — Anadolu Agency

In Yemen, 13 servicemen from government forces were killed over two days of fighting with Houthi forces in the southwestern provinces of Taiz and Lahj. This was reported by Anadolu Agency, citing the army-affiliated Tur al-Bahah military command.

Casualties during clashes

In its statement, the Tur al-Bahah command reported only the deaths of military personnel, providing no further details about the circumstances of the fighting.

In recent days, fighting between government forces and the Houthis has also resumed on several fronts, including in Taiz, Marib, Al-Jawf, Al-Bayda and Lahj.

Intensification of hostilities

According to the agency, the current clashes are part of a broader military escalation that began in early July. This is the most intense escalation since a period of relative calm following the truce in April 2022.

In September, the intensity of fighting increased, and the Houthis seized several important positions along Yemen's Red Sea coast. Yemen's civil war has continued since September 2014, when the Houthis captured the capital, Sanaa, and several provinces. In March 2015, a Saudi Arabia-led coalition intervened in the conflict in support of Yemen's internationally recognized government.
