In Yemen, government forces regroup positions after Houthi advances
In Yemen, government troops and allied forces have raised their combat readiness on the Taiz and Hajjah fronts and are regrouping their positions after Houthi advances along the western coast. This was reported by Asharq Al-Awsat.
Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council member Othman Mujalli visited units of the Fifth Military Region in the northwestern province of Hajjah. He inspected their readiness, level of training and morale. According to government media, Mujalli said that the armed forces would continue confronting the Houthis and work to restore state institutions.
The official also inspected the naval forces, coast guard and several islands near the Midi area. He checked measures to evacuate civilians and military personnel from Zubair Island, who, according to the publication, had been unable to leave the island due to recent events on the western coast.
Strikes near Taiz
The Yemeni army said that its aircraft struck a Houthi ballistic missile launcher at Taiz airport, east of the city. The Taiz military command also reported strikes on Houthi equipment, personnel and positions in the areas of Dubab in Taiz province and Al-Khawkhah in Hodeidah province.

Abdul Aziz al-Majidi, chief of staff of the Taiz military command, visited several frontline areas around the city. Abu Bakr al-Ghoubli, commander of the Tur al-Bahah front and the 4th Mountain Infantry Brigade, inspected positions from Bani Omar to Jardadah and the outskirts of the Al-Waziyah district.
Pressure on Taiz
According to Asharq Al-Awsat, the Houthis captured significant areas of the western coast, including Mocha, Al-Khawkhah and Hays, and reached the Bab el-Mandeb Strait and several Red Sea islands. The publication notes that this increased pressure on Taiz, where government forces are trying to hold their positions and are reviewing troop deployments.
Mujalli also called on tribes to prevent the Houthis from recruiting young people. During the trip, he reviewed the work of the Masam project, which clears mines in territories controlled by Yemen’s government.
