Finland is launching a scavenger hunt with a gold bar worth 20,000 euros

An unusual tourist scavenger hunt is set to kick off this summer in Finnish Lapland, with participants searching for a hidden gold bar worth about 20,000 euros. The organizers at the Levi resort are launching the game to draw attention to the summer season in the region, which is usually associated with winter vacations.

Lapland is preparing an unusual tourist event that will turn a vacation into a real treasure hunt, as the grand prize will be a gold bar worth about 20,000 euros. The initiative comes from the Levi resort, which aims to showcase the region not only as a winter destination but also as a vibrant summer destination for travelers.

The quest is scheduled to begin on June 18, and from that moment on, participants will receive clues that will gradually guide them through various locations at the resort. The game’s route will pass through popular tourist spots, including hiking trails, bike routes, and natural landscapes, allowing participants to combine fun with exploring the region.

The organizers explain that each new clue will unlock the next stage of the quest, gradually narrowing the search area and guiding participants toward the potential location of the prize. The gold bar can be found at any time after the event begins, so the element of chance remains a key part of the game.

The final clue is scheduled to be released on August 22, though the search may end earlier if one of the participants is the first to figure out the route. Importantly, participation is open to anyone interested via the special online platform Midnight Sun Hunt, where all updates and clues will be posted.

One of the quest’s main highlights will be the midnight sun period, which lasts in Levi from late May to late July, when the sun barely sets below the horizon and light persists around the clock. It is this natural phenomenon that creates a unique atmosphere for travelers, who can explore without being limited by daylight hours.

Satu Pesonen, CEO of the tourism organization Visit Levi, emphasized that the project aims to change perceptions of the region and showcase its summer appeal. According to her, “Levi is primarily known as a winter resort, but the northern summer remains little known to many,” so the quest is intended to serve as a new reason to visit.

The organizers also emphasize that the search will take place exclusively in designated areas and will not involve any interference with the natural environment. The gold bar itself will be hidden in such a way that it can be found without harming the landscape, which is part of the project’s eco-friendly approach. This was reported by Euronews.
