The U.S. Will Refrain from Striking Iran If a Deal Is Reached Soon — Trump
On August 2, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that the U.S. military would not launch new strikes against Iran if Washington and Tehran reached an agreement in the near future.
According to Trump, the U.S. is “fully armed and ready” for military action against Iran; however, Tehran and other Middle Eastern countries have asked Washington to refrain from an attack provided that an agreement is reached.
The U.S. president noted that such an agreement must provide for the immediate, complete, and unconditional opening of the Strait of Hormuz, as well as the elimination of the nuclear threat posed by Iran.
“Nevertheless, we have just received a request from Iran and other Middle Eastern countries to refrain from any attack, provided that the terms of the agreement are agreed upon. This would entail the immediate, complete, and absolute OPENING OF THE STRAIT OF HORMUZ, as well as an end to the nuclear threat posed by Iran. Based on this request, I have agreed—for the sake of the future well-being of the WORLD, as well as for the survival of a successful and prosperous Iran—to call off the attack, provided that an AGREEMENT can be reached quickly,” Trump wrote.
He also stated that Israel supports this U.S. position.

As a reminder, Tehran has threatened to strike the energy infrastructure of other countries if the U.S. carries out new attacks. Tehran has stated that the response will be directed not only against American interests but also against countries that support potential military action.
The United States and Israel are holding consultations on potentially increasing pressure on Iran, specifically by blocking its land borders. This scenario is being considered as part of broader measures to limit Tehran’s capabilities.
