France Télévisions removes recording of program featuring Adèle Haenel
In France, public broadcaster France Télévisions removed from its website a recording of an episode of the literary program La Grande Librairie on the France 5 channel, in which actress Adèle Haenel spoke about the situation in Palestine. This was reported by Anadolu Agency.
The actress's remarks
According to Haenel, she took part in the program's live broadcast on September 9. At the end of the episode, guests were given an opportunity to speak freely. The actress said that she spoke about attempts to silence people who speak out about sexual violence and, in her words, genocide in Palestine.
In a video published on Instagram, Haenel said that her team recorded this segment because it expected that her words might be edited. However, she claimed that France Télévisions removed the entire recording of the program from its website.

The broadcaster's explanation and politicians' reaction
According to the French magazine Telerama, France Télévisions explained the removal of the recording by saying that Haenel's remarks about Palestine were not balanced by another position during the broadcast.
Members of parliament from the left-wing party La France Insoumise criticized the decision. Gabrielle Cathala said the recording was removed after Haenel's speech, in which she accused Israel of genocide against the Palestinian people and France of complicity. Danièle Obono called the decision “scandalous,” while Aymeric Caron said the actress's words about Gaza were accurate and demanded explanations regarding possible pressure on the public broadcaster.
