Yemen reports airstrikes on Houthis in Mocha and Dhubab areas

The Yemeni Air Force struck Houthi targets in the Mocha and Dhubab areas of Yemen, the country’s armed forces said. As Anadolu Agency reports, Yemeni Armed Forces spokesperson Brig. Gen. Majid Abdullah al-Nuzaili said the strikes destroyed Houthi vehicles and weapons.

Spokesperson’s statement

According to al-Nuzaili, the strikes were carried out near the port of Mocha and the Zaid al-Kharj shopping center in the city. He also said Houthi fighters were killed in these areas, as well as near the administration of a water project in Mocha.

According to the spokesperson, a concentration of vehicles and fighters was struck at an animal quarantine facility on the Mocha-Dhubab road, about 11 kilometers from Mocha. Another concentration of group members, he said, was eliminated near the former headquarters of a military commander on Mocha’s northern ring road.

Situation in the country

No additional details about the operation were immediately provided. According to the agency, Yemen has experienced a period of relative calm since 2022 after nearly 12 years of war between government forces backed by a Saudi Arabia-led coalition and the Houthis. The Houthis have controlled the capital, Sanaa, and a large part of the country since 2014. Since late 2023, the group has carried out attacks on Israel and commercial shipping in the Red Sea.
