Education and rehabilitation
The initiative is part of a broader approach by the Ghana Prison Service, under which education is used for correction, rehabilitation and reintegration of inmates into society.
The service views education and professional qualifications as an opportunity for inmates to develop skills and improve their employment prospects after release. The agency also emphasizes education and skills development in its rehabilitation programs aimed at reducing reoffending and preparing people to return to their communities.
