Nigeria’s Jigawa State and Rano Air sign agreement for Abuja–Dutse flights
In Jigawa State in northern Nigeria, the regional government signed a partnership agreement with airline Rano Air Limited to develop an air route and launch regular commercial flights between the capital Abuja and the city of Dutse. The ceremony took place at the Government House in Dutse and was led by Deputy Governor Aminu Usman, who represented Governor Umar Namadi.
Flights three times a week
As Premium Times Nigeria reports, Rano Air is to operate flights on the Abuja–Dutse–Abuja route three times a week — on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The carrier plans to use a 50-seat aircraft for this purpose.
Under the agreement, Jigawa authorities will support the route’s development at the initial stage and create conditions for its commercial sustainability. Aminu Usman described the agreement as an important step for developing transport infrastructure and improving connectivity in the state.

Parties’ expectations
The deputy governor said regular air service should make travel easier for investors, businesspeople, officials, development partners, specialists and visitors. According to him, economic activity is growing in the state in agriculture, trade, investment, education, tourism and public administration.
The state authorities expect the airline to maintain high standards of safety, reliability, professionalism and passenger service. Rano Air Chief Executive Officer Lawan Sabo Bakin Zuwo said the carrier seeks to make the partnership successful and that safety will remain its top priority.
