Mexico News Daily publishes satire about Mexico-US trade
Mexican outlet Mexico News Daily published a satirical text about the economic ties between Mexico and the United States. The piece appeared in the El Jalapeño section, all publications in which the outlet explicitly defines as satire rather than real news.
Satirical plot
The text depicts an alleged briefing by Mexican trade representatives after words attributed to US President Donald Trump that Mexico is supposedly useful only for “tamales and tomatoes.” In response, the satirical characters list industrial, technological and automotive goods that Mexico supplies to the United States.

Among the goods mentioned in the publication are computer servers, medical equipment, automotive components, machinery and fresh produce. The text also contains a claim about $60 billion in exports to the United States in July, but it is presented only within the satirical plot.

The outlet accompanied the material with a warning that El Jalapeño stories are not real news. Therefore, the briefing, official Mateo Morales, his position, the quotes and the cited economic data described in it are not confirmed reports of real events.
