Results of Bangsamoro’s first parliamentary elections announced
Final results of the first parliamentary elections in the history of the autonomous Bangsamoro region in the southern Philippines have been announced. The Bangsamoro Federalist Party (BFP) won the most seats, followed by the United Bangsamoro Justice Party (UBJP), Anadolu Agency reports.
Turnout and parliamentary composition
According to the Regional Board of Canvassers of the Philippine Commission on Elections, 2,018,478 voters took part in the vote. Turnout in Monday’s elections was 84.34%.
The Bangsamoro Parliament has 80 members: 40 representatives of regional parliamentary parties, 32 district representatives, and eight sectoral representatives.
Distribution of seats
In the party-list portion of parliament, the BFP received 16 seats and the UBJP received 15. The BARMM Grand Coalition (BGC) won eight seats, while the Raayat Democratic Party won one.

Among district representatives, the BFP received 15 seats, the UBJP nine, and the Serbisyong Inklusibo Alyansang Progresibo (SIAP) six. The Progresibong Bangsamoro Party (PBP) and Al Ittihad-UKB won one seat each.
Yul Adelfo Olaya and Mary Ann Arnado received seats as representatives of settler communities. Aida Silongan, Sulffy Abbas, Muhammad Nadzir Ebil, and Marjanie Mimbantas-Macasalong represent women, youth, ulema, and traditional leaders, respectively.
The Teduray and Lambangian communities elected Jo Glenna Jover and Leticio Datuwata as representatives of non-Moro Indigenous peoples under customary law. The BFP is led by interim Chief Minister Abdulraof Macacua, while the UBJP is led by former interim Chief Minister Murad Ebrahim, who is also the leader of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front. The elected officials will take office on October 30 and elect the region’s chief minister.
