In Ghana, Afoko says NPP can return to power in two years — MyJoyOnline
In Ghana, New Patriotic Party (NPP) national chairmanship candidate Akwentami Paul Afoko said the party could remain in opposition for only two years before returning to power. He linked this forecast to his possible election as chairman and the unification of the party ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Campaign ahead of the chairmanship election
As MyJoyOnline reports, Afoko addressed delegates in the country’s Western, Central and Eastern regions during a campaign tour. The former NPP national chairman said he does not have a “magic wand,” but called party unity the foundation for victory in the 2028 elections.
According to Afoko, the NPP has all the prerequisites for victory, but lacks internal unity. He urged representatives of party branches to set aside their differences, unite and restore the structures that had previously made the party strong.

The 3Rs plan
Afoko described the 3Rs plan — Reunite, Rebuild, Recapture Power — as the foundation of his campaign: to unite the party, rebuild its structures and regain power. He said that if elected chairman, he intends to strengthen grassroots party structures, renew the organization in constituencies and at polling stations, and restore the trust of activists who, he said, had felt neglected in recent years.
The NPP national chairmanship election is scheduled for October 3 and is to be held at Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi. Afoko continues to meet with delegates, promoting a program to unite the party.
