In Ghana, author Sackey says memoir does not call Duodu late — MyJoyOnline
In Ghana, journalist and author Jefferson Sackey said that his memoir, PURPOSE: A Memoir of Fearless Journalism, Diplomacy and Growth, does not describe journalism veteran Cameron Duodu as deceased. MyJoyOnline reports.
Reason for the clarification
The clarification came after an online column by Duodu, in which he wrote that the book referred to him as the late Cameron Duodu. Sackey responded that this wording appeared in a publication announcement, but not in the text of the memoir itself.

The only mention in the book
According to Sackey, Duodu is mentioned in the memoir only once — on page 167. The passage refers to him as one of the journalists who used their pens, voices and platforms to confront authoritarianism, expose wrongdoing and uphold freedom of speech.
The author stressed that this passage recognizes Duodu’s contribution to Ghana’s democratic development and does not contain a statement about his death. Sackey also expressed regret over the confusion, urged readers to consult the text of the book and said he had taken steps to deliver a copy to Duodu.
