In Ghana, mother of four wins 1 million cedis in Telecel promotion
In Ghana, 45-year-old Adiza Ibrahim from Prang, in the Pru East District of the Bono East Region, became the first winner of the main prize in the Telecel M'Ahitti promotion — 1 million Ghanaian cedis. The woman is a widow and mother of four, MyJoyOnline reports.
Family suspected fraud
The winner's daughter said that the family had participated in the promotion. One day, she took her mother's phone, dialed the 500# code and entered the draw. A few weeks later, Adiza Ibrahim received a call informing her of the win, but her relatives initially suspected fraud.
According to the daughter, the family was wary of the call because of widespread mobile money scams in the country. Their doubts disappeared when Telecel officially presented them with the 1 million cedi prize.

Promotion terms
Telecel Ghana's consumer director, Anet Muga, said the promotion was launched to reward customers for their trust and loyalty. According to her, over the next four months, the company plans to make three customers millionaires, announcing a new winner each month.
The campaign includes 12,000 daily prizes of 100 cedis each, up to 48 weekly prizes of 20,000 cedis each, and three main prizes of 1 million cedis each. Telecel said that it conducts the draws in cooperation with Ghana's National Lottery Authority, which oversees each of them.
Top-ups, purchasing a service package, or depositing funds worth at least 10 cedis qualify participants for daily, weekly and monthly draws. Users of Telecel Cash and the Telecel Play app receive additional and double chances. The company also reminded customers that participation in the promotion is free and that winners should not be asked to pay money or disclose their Telecel Cash PIN code.
