Ghana announces emergency aid for flood victims in Hohoe — MyJoyOnline
In Ghana, the government has announced an emergency LEAP assistance package for households affected by flooding in the Hohoe Municipality in the Volta Region. The flooding occurred on Monday and affected several areas of the municipality, inundating homes and other property belonging to residents.
Emergency support for families
The LEAP package, which stands for Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty, is intended to provide immediate support to affected families as they begin to recover from the destruction. The assistance will also supplement aid that the government is providing to residents of the affected areas.

Minister visits affected communities
The decision was announced by the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, during a visit to Hohoe-Zongo and neighbouring communities on Wednesday. She assessed the consequences of the flooding and spoke with residents whose homes and livelihoods were affected by the disaster.
According to MyJoyOnline, the government intends to support people who suffered losses and help them restore their livelihoods. The emergency package is part of measures responding to residents’ needs after the flooding.
