Trump approves firing squad execution of Fort Hood shooter — Anadolu Agency

US President Donald Trump has approved the execution by firing squad of Nidal Malik Hasan, who was sentenced over the shooting at the Fort Hood military base in Texas. The Pentagon reported this.

Pentagon decision

According to Anadolu Agency, Pentagon chief spokesperson Sean Parnell said that US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth recommended carrying out the execution, and Trump approved the decision.

The time and place of the execution will be determined by the US Army secretary, Parnell added.

Military jury verdict

Hasan, a former Army psychiatrist, was sentenced to death by a military jury over the November 2009 shooting at Fort Hood in Texas.

He was found guilty on 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted premeditated murder. During the attack on a military processing center, where service members were preparing for deployment, 13 people were killed and another 32 were injured.
