In Ghana, NPP representative accuses NDC government of failing to keep education promises
In Ghana, Kofi Tonto, a representative of the New Patriotic Movement (NPP), accused the government of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of failing to fulfil its promise to reset the education sector. He made the statement on the JoyNews AM Show, MyJoyOnline reports.
Problems with student placement
The statement came amid the situation at the National Student Placement Resolution Centre at GNAT Hall in Accra. Parents and students are turning there for help because of difficulties with the 2026 Computerized School Selection and Placement System.
According to Tonto, the problems parents face during the placement process indicate broader difficulties in the education system. He said that over the past two years, the government has not introduced the substantial changes that, in his view, citizens expected after promises to resolve longstanding problems in the sector.

Criticism of government policy
The NPP representative also mentioned issues involving teacher payments and recruitment, school feeding, examination results and the placement of students in senior high schools. He claims that the government has failed to cope with these areas.
Tonto called the situation of finding places for students “a disgrace” and drew attention to videos in which parents, according to him, are trying to secure their children’s admission to schools. He urged the authorities to urgently resolve the problems that arose during the current student placement process.
