In Ghana, parties to dispute barred from calling anyone Ziavi paramount chief or queen mother
The Volta Region House of Chiefs in Ghana has temporarily barred parties to a dispute in the Ziavi traditional area from presenting anyone as the Ziavi paramount chief or paramount queen mother until the case is finally determined. The relevant order was issued as part of proceedings before the House's Judicial Committee, MyJoyOnline reports.
Dispute over traditional positions
The case before the Judicial Committee was initiated by Emmanuel Kwasi Norgbe and three other people. George Kofi Agbagba and others are named as respondents in the case.
The dispute challenges the legality of conferring the status of paramount chief and paramount queen mother on two members of the Akpevi clan from Ziavi-Dzogbe. This occurred after two other members of the Tsadawiefe clan from Ziavi-Dzogbe had also been granted these traditional statuses.

Temporary management of the council
The temporary ban was signed by the registrar of the Volta Region House of Chiefs, Mohammed Ikililu. It applies to the applicants and respondents: they are prohibited from presenting any person as the paramount chief or paramount queen mother of the Ziavi traditional area until the case is finally resolved.
The House also said that Togbe Adza Kwadzo III will continue to serve as president of the Ziavi Traditional Council. He will be responsible for traditional and administrative actions and decisions in the area until the dispute is finally resolved.
