Iran calls reports of activity at Mount Pickaxe unfounded
Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson said on September 14 that reports of activity at Mount Pickaxe in Iran are unfounded. This came after U.S. President Donald Trump said that the United States was monitoring the situation at the site, Asharq Al-Awsat reports.
Trump’s statements
Last week, Trump said that the United States could strike Mount Pickaxe and urged Iran to be careful. Speaking on Wednesday at a Republican convention dedicated to the midterm elections, he said that Washington had noticed some activity there and warned Tehran of possible tough U.S. actions.

According to the outlet, Trump has been threatening strikes on Mount Pickaxe since at least mid-July. He also said that, in his view, the war would end immediately after the midterm elections and claimed that Tehran was trying to influence the vote. Site near Natanz
Mount Pickaxe is located near Iran’s uranium enrichment facility in Natanz, which, according to Asharq Al-Awsat, sustained significant damage. The outlet describes Pickaxe as a fortified site with two deeply located tunnel complexes.
