F-4 Phantom crashes during airshow in Greece, two pilots killed
A Greek military F-4 Phantom aircraft crashed on September 5 at a base near Athens during the annual Athens Flying Week airshow. Two pilots were killed in the crash, Channel NewsAsia reports, citing the Greek ANA agency.
Aircraft lost altitude after takeoff
According to a journalist from public broadcaster ERT who was at the scene, the fighter jet had just taken off when it suddenly began losing altitude and crashed. Local media reported that the pilots did not eject. The circumstances of the air crash have not yet been clarified.

Airshow cancelled
An explosion occurred immediately after the aircraft crashed. According to ERT, several firefighting aircraft were dispatched to the crash site to extinguish the fire caused by the accident. Thousands of visitors to the annual airshow witnessed the incident.
The event was cancelled. Greek Defence Minister Nikos Dendias also cancelled his trip to the International Fair in Thessaloniki to visit the crash site.
