Police said that the property owner found the injured animals in a pen the following morning. According to preliminary information from law enforcement, several people may have entered the property on the evening of September 16 and used dogs to drive eight sheep into a pen.

There, police allege, several animals were deliberately injured. Law enforcement officers also said that considerable disorder was caused on the property.

Police seek witnesses and information about a vehicle

Police are asking people who saw anything unusual on the eastern side of the Monaro Highway on the evening of September 16 — between the paintball venue and the Johnson Drive roundabout — to come forward. Law enforcement officers are also interested in vehicles travelling to or from Old Tuggeranong Road near the pine forest.

Separately, investigators are seeking information about a late-1990s or early-2000s sedan seen in the area that evening. Police stressed that they take all reports of animal cruelty seriously.
