Two suspects linked to TTP detained in Karachi
Pakistan’s Counter Terrorism Department said it had detained two men in Karachi suspected of belonging to the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) movement. During the operation, the department said, two hand grenades were seized.
Joint operation
As Dawn reports, the detainees were identified as Umar Farooq and Abdullah. A spokesperson for the Counter Terrorism Department said the intelligence-based operation was conducted jointly with an unnamed intelligence service.

Law enforcement version
According to the spokesperson, the men arrived in Karachi from Afghanistan to carry out terrorist attacks. He also said the suspects had conducted reconnaissance of Rangers personnel and police officers, as well as their offices, and passed the collected information to their handlers.
Separate attack on highway
In another incident reported by police, 50-year-old Didar Khan was shot dead and his 45-year-old relative Dildar Manthar was wounded on the Superhighway while travelling from the city courts on Wednesday. Sohrab Goth police station chief Gul Baig said Didar Khan was implicated in a murder case and had come to court for a hearing. According to the official, the deceased man’s family said it knew the attackers and would name them in a police statement after the funeral rites were completed.
