US administration special envoy Jared Kushner, during a briefing in Kyiv, Ukraine, called the Israeli government slightly irrational on Gaza-related issues. According to him, the decisions of the Israeli authorities are influenced by domestic political pressure ahead of the elections. This was reported by Anadolu Agency.

Kushner said that Washington and Israel agree on the end state of Gaza. At the same time, he said that the elections in Israel are affecting decision-making in the country. The US envoy also stressed that the United States is determined and is working on the political difficulties in Israel.
According to reports, Kushner had earlier urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu not to obstruct the implementation of the Trump administration's peace plan. As Anadolu Agency notes, he directly told Netanyahu not to create obstacles to the implementation of the peace council's roadmap.

Elections to Israel's 26th Knesset are scheduled for October 27. According to a poll by public broadcaster KAN, Netanyahu's Likud party could win 20 of the 120 seats in parliament if voting were held now.
