Western carriageway of highway near Pamprom temporarily closed in Ghana
In Ghana, the western carriageway of Dr. Busia Highway near the Pamprom intersection in the Kaneshie area has been temporarily closed to traffic. The restrictions were introduced on Monday, September 7, 2026, for work under the Greater Accra Resilient and Integrated Development (GARID) project, MyJoyOnline reports.
Drivers advised to bypass Kaneshie
GARID project coordinator Dr. Ohene Sarfo said that the closure would place additional pressure on Kaneshie, where there is already heavy congestion. He advised drivers whose destination is not Kaneshie to use alternative routes.
According to Sarfo, redirecting traffic flows should reduce the number of vehicles heading to Kaneshie and ease congestion near the Pamprom intersection.

Detour routes
Possible detour routes include Kwame Nkrumah Avenue via Abossey-Okai or Kaneshie North, with access to the N1 motorway. Drivers can also use Atta-Mills Highway, travel through Korle-Bu and Dansoman, and exit in the Mallam or Sakaman areas.
Drivers who need to pass through this section were asked to comply with traffic management measures and detour arrangements. GARID noted that drivers' cooperation would help minimize delays and complete the work faster. The project includes measures to improve flood resilience and drainage infrastructure in Greater Accra.
