The Kremlin has expressed dissatisfaction with the elections in Armenia following Pashinyan's victory

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that Moscow is “carefully documenting” reports of alleged violations during the parliamentary elections in Armenia.

At the same time, he declined to comment on the election results until the country’s Central Election Commission officially announces them.

Parliamentary elections in Armenia took place on June 7. According to preliminary official data, the “Civic Contract” party of incumbent Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan won with 49.81% of the vote.

Second place went to the “Strong Armenia” alliance led by businessman Samvel Karapetyan, with 23.29% of the vote. Also entering parliament are the “Armenia” bloc, led by former President Robert Kocharyan, and Hagik Tsarukyan’s “Prosperous Armenia” party.

These are the first nationwide elections in Armenia since the events of 2023, when Azerbaijan established control over Nagorno-Karabakh.

After coming to power in 2018, Pashinyan gradually reduced Armenia’s dependence on Moscow and expanded cooperation with Western partners, a move that has repeatedly drawn criticism from the Kremlin.

Six opposition candidates were detained in Armenia ahead of the elections

Armenia has asked the EU to send a rapid response team to counter Russian influence.

The Armenian opposition proposed creating a “Ministry of Sex” to promote women’s happiness.
