Leo XIV specifically called the significant increase in military spending by European states “alarming.”
In his address, the Pope devoted special attention to the global issue of migration. According to him, the lack of adequate support for migrants seriously calls into question “the ethical foundation of the international order.”
The pontiff called on governments not merely to control refugee flows, but to eliminate the root causes of migration—poverty, war, and climate change.
