The Kremlin has commented on the EU’s five conditions for peace in Ukraine

Russia has responded to the conditions set forth by the European Union for achieving peace in Ukraine. The Kremlin stated that it sees inconsistencies in European countries’ approaches to resolving the war. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov noted that European leaders simultaneously speak of the need for a peaceful settlement while continuing to provide military aid to Ukraine. In his view, this approach is inconsistent.

The Kremlin’s Position on Europe’s Statements

Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the initiatives of the United Kingdom, France, and Germany, stated that their approach to resolving the conflict is contradictory.

According to him, EU countries simultaneously advocate for a peaceful solution but continue to supply weapons to Ukraine and develop its defense capabilities.

He emphasized that such a position appears inconsistent and raises questions about the true intentions of European leaders.

Moscow’s reaction to the London meeting

Peskov’s statement was a reaction to the outcome of talks between the leaders of Ukraine, the UK, France, and Germany, which took place in London.

Following the meeting, the parties issued a joint statement outlining the terms of a possible settlement of the conflict.

Key conditions proposed by Europe

The document outlined key parameters that, in the opinion of European leaders, could form the basis for future peace:

  • an immediate ceasefire as a basic step toward a settlement;

  • using the current front line as a starting point for negotiations between Ukraine and Russia;

  • providing Ukraine with reliable and legally binding security guarantees, including the possibility of deploying multinational forces;

  • the preservation of frozen Russian assets until the end of the war and compensation for damages;

  • taking into account the interests of the EU and NATO, decisions regarding which must be coordinated with member states.

Military Aid to Ukraine and Moscow’s Position

In parallel with diplomatic initiatives, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany announced plans to strengthen military support for Ukraine, including the development of long-range and anti-missile capabilities.

In Moscow, such actions are viewed as contradicting statements about a desire for peace. Earlier, Peskov also stated that the conflict could be resolved “by the end of the day,” provided that a series of demands from the Russian side are met.

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has repeatedly emphasized that Russia is ready for a political settlement provided the causes of the conflict are eliminated, including a change in the status of several territories, Ukraine’s neutral status, and the lifting of sanctions.
