More than 1,700 cases have been opened in Crimea for “discrediting the Russian Armed Forces”
In Crimea, which has been temporarily occupied since 2014, Russian authorities have opened more than 1,700 cases on charges of so-called “discrediting the Russian Armed Forces,” according to the Office of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.

As of April 22, 2026, 1,729 cases of administrative proceedings under the relevant article of Russian law have been recorded.
In 1,607 cases, individuals were fined or their cases were consolidated with other proceedings.
Eight more cases remain pending.
According to the Office, 53% of the rulings were issued against women, and 47% against men.
This indicates the widespread nature of persecution among the civilian population.
Separately, it is reported that at least 3,047 military personnel from Russian units stationed in Crimea have been killed.
Of these, 1,557, according to preliminary data, may have been Ukrainian citizens.
It has also been confirmed that at least 125 soldiers from Crimea have been taken prisoner.
Most of them are likely also citizens of Ukraine.
Thousands of Russian military casualties have been recorded in Crimea.

As a reminder, last year Russia completely canceled the Navy Day parade for the first time, which was scheduled to take place on July 27, 2025. This occurred amid attacks by Ukrainian drones.
