Annual Wine Festival to begin in Limassol, Cyprus — Cyprus Mail

The annual Wine Festival will open in Limassol, Cyprus, on Saturday and will run until October 4. Mayor Yiannis Armeftis said the municipality is ready to welcome thousands of visitors over nine days of musical performances, traditional entertainment, wine and food, Cyprus Mail reports.

Opening and concert programme

The official opening of the festival is scheduled for 20:00 near the Vrakas statue. Communications Minister Evi Tsolaki is expected to take part in the event. According to Armeftis, guests are invited to explore the programme and the traditional festive atmosphere.

The programme includes 14 concerts on the stage near the Vrakas statue and at the Municipal Garden Theatre. Visitors will be offered traditional music, rebetiko, rock and pop, as well as evenings dedicated to renowned Greek and Cypriot composers. The festival will also feature Cypriot comedy performances and appearances by folk ensembles.

Wine, children's activities and transport

Local wineries will operate festival stalls where guests will be able to taste wine and traditional dishes. A separate area for children will include a shadow theatre, jugglers, stilt walkers, as well as creative and pottery workshops.

Events will take place not only in Limassol: part of the programme will be held in the wine-making communities of Agios Mamas and Arsos. Free buses will run between Limassol and Nicosia, Larnaca, Ayia Napa and Paphos on September 26 and 27, as well as October 2, 3 and 4. To reserve a seat, organisers provided the number 25 002211.
