In Lithuania and the Czech Republic, almost simultaneously, unknown individuals left funeral wreaths and photographs of company executives with black ribbons outside the offices of defense companies.
In Vilnius, several mourning wreaths appeared outside the building of RSI Europe, a company that manufactures unmanned systems. A photograph of the company’s CEO, Tomas Milasauskas, with a black mourning ribbon was placed nearby.
Milashauskas is alive and well. He called the incident an attempt at intimidation.
According to the head of RSI Europe, this is the first time the company has faced such a provocation. However, there have been previous attempts to target the company, including documented cyberattacks.
Lithuanian authorities had previously warned defense industry companies about the risk of various provocations and attacks.
The police responded promptly to the incident and detained one suspect. A pre-trial investigation has been launched.
According to sources, the detainee is a Ukrainian citizen. It is believed that he may have been hired by a Belarusian citizen to deliver the wreaths.
