More than 100 migrants attempting to break through to Ceuta were detained in Morocco
Moroccan police detained at least 111 people who attempted to enter the Spanish enclave of Ceuta illegally on Saturday.
Among those detained were 109 people from sub-Saharan African countries and two Moroccan citizens. They were detained in the town of Fnideq, located near the border with Ceuta.
According to Spanish media reports, police used tear gas to disperse the migrants on the hills about 3 km from the border.
The attempted breach occurred two weeks after a massive influx of migrants into Ceuta.

Following the mass crossing of migrants into the Spanish enclave of Ceuta in North Africa, at least 99 people died, and dozens more are still missing. Hundreds of Moroccans have arrived in the border town of Fnideq in search of their relatives.
Europol and the European External Action Service (EEAS) are investigating who is behind a large-scale disinformation campaign regarding the migration situation in the Spanish enclave of Ceuta.
As a reminder, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen reported that most of the migrants who illegally entered the Spanish autonomous city of Ceuta have already returned to Morocco. According to her, none of them reached mainland Spain or other European Union member states.
