In Michigan, a 13-year-old girl called 911 after sustaining four injuries
In Missauquy County, Michigan, a 13-year-old girl who sustained four gunshot wounds during a shooting at three different locations called 911 on her own. Six people were killed in the incident, including the suspected shooter, according to The Guardian.
According to state police, the girl was taken to the hospital in critical condition, but by Saturday her condition had stabilized. State Police spokeswoman Lt. Ashley Miller said the girl called 911 and said she had been shot. When law enforcement officers arrived at one of the crime scenes, the shooter had already fled, but investigators quickly identified the suspect.
Police identified the suspect as 39-year-old Chad Hickman. According to investigators, he shot and killed five people at three different locations. Hickman was later found dead in a wooded area next to the body of a 29-year-old woman following a search operation. Investigators had not yet determined whether he died by suicide; they were awaiting the results of an autopsy. According to police, all of the victims had gunshot wounds.

In the first house, law enforcement officers discovered the bodies of a 16-year-old boy, a 45-year-old man, and a 40-year-old woman, as well as an injured girl. In the second house, they found the body of a 53-year-old person. A relative identified two of the victims in a Facebook post—40-year-old Amanda Everitt and her 16-year-old son, Eric. According to him, the 13-year-old victim is his granddaughter, and she was able to identify the attacker during her call to emergency services.
According to court records, Hickman was convicted in 2024 of a fourth-degree offense related to child abuse and sentenced to one year in prison. The charges were based on a complaint filed by his ex-wife, Katie, who filed for divorce in September 2023.
