A scheme to supply military aviation components to Russia was uncovered in Moldova
Moldovan law enforcement authorities have dismantled a scheme involving the illegal export to Russia of dual-use goods that could have been used to support military aviation.
According to the investigation, since 2022, a Moldovan company has been exporting control and electrical signal measurement systems used in the engines of Yak-130 combat-training aircraft and Su-27 fighter jets. The total value of the shipments exceeded 21 million lei (about 1 million euros).
Law enforcement officials claim that the products were declared in customs declarations as “waste processing equipment” to conceal their true purpose. Additionally, the company did not obtain the necessary permits to export dual-use goods.
According to investigators, a company was established in Russia to conceal the final recipient; through this company, the products were transferred to enterprises linked to the Russian military-industrial complex and those subject to international sanctions.
During six searches, law enforcement officers seized components, computer equipment, cell phones, technical documentation, and contracts. The investigation is ongoing.
