NCDMB to hold reading of Paul S. Nwabuikwu’s book in Nigeria
In Nigeria, the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) will hold the fifth session of its book reading programme on September 15, 2026. The event will be dedicated to the book by writer, journalist and public policy analyst Paul S. Nwabuikwu, The Pain and the Promise: Insights and Fragments on Nigeria and People, Public and Personal, Premium Times Nigeria reports.
A book about Nigeria and society
The book includes texts written over more than three decades. In them, Nwabuikwu addresses Nigeria, its population, politics, economy, public policy and changes in society.
The author began his career in journalism in 1988 and worked for the Nigerian media outlets Newswatch, THISDAY and THE GUARDIAN. His professional experience also includes public policy, strategic communications, advertising, brand development and public opinion research.

The author’s experience and previous sessions
Nwabuikwu served as special assistant for communications to Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala during her two terms as finance minister and head of the Economic Management Team. During the public presentation of the book in Abuja, Okonjo-Iweala, former aviation minister Osita Chidoka and Baze University Vice-Chancellor Professor Abiodun Adeniyi called it an important contribution to Nigeria’s intellectual discourse and public policy debate.
NCDMB said that the reading programme is intended to promote literacy, critical thinking and knowledge sharing, as well as human capital development beyond the oil and gas sector. The two previous sessions discussed the books Pirates of the Gulf by King Bubaraye Dakolo and Leading in a Storm by former Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency Dakuku Peterside.
