Three women killed in attack on mining site in Nigeria — Premium Times Nigeria

In the Rakum community in the Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, Nigeria, armed attackers opened fire at a mining site. Three women were killed and one other person was injured, Premium Times Nigeria reports.

The attack occurred in the evening

According to the publication, the attackers arrived at the site at around 4:30 p.m. on Monday. They shot at people working at the mining site and then left the area. Rwang Tengwong, spokesperson for the Berom Youth Moulders-Association, confirmed to journalists in Jos that the mining site was the attackers' target.

Community member John Silas also confirmed the attack. According to him, the shooting began in the evening while the miners were carrying out their work. Tengwong and Silas called on security agencies to find the attackers, bring them to justice, and strengthen security measures in the community.

Curfew in the state

The incident occurred amid heightened security measures in some parts of Plateau State, including the Barkin-Ladi, Mangu, and Bokkos areas. State authorities recently imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew there following a series of attacks. On Monday, police and military officials did not issue immediate statements regarding the attack on the mining site.
