Russian oligarch Kremlev confirmed that Trump Jr. had returned the funds
Russian businessman and president of the International Boxing Association, Umar Kremlev, stated that Donald Trump Jr. reimbursed him for the expenses incurred for an event following his wedding.
According to Kremlev, he did not view these expenses as a gift and does not understand why a scandal has arisen over them. At the same time, he assured that his relationship with Trump Jr. is purely friendly.
“We’re just friends,” Kremlev said, adding that he had never asked Trump Jr. for help or assistance in the U.S.
Earlier, a ProPublica investigation reported that companies linked to Kremlev may have spent about $200,000 on a party following Trump Jr.’s wedding in the Bahamas. The funds were used, in particular, to rent a private island and organize a fireworks display.
U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche stated that he currently sees no grounds for investigating the matter of Russian businessman Umar Kremlev’s partial funding of Donald Trump Jr.’s wedding celebrations.
The U.S. House of Representatives has launched an investigation into the financing of Donald Trump Jr.’s wedding. The inquiry focuses on the possible involvement of Russian oligarch Umar Kremlev in the financing.
The wedding celebrations for Donald Trump Jr. and Bettina Anderson in the Bahamas were paid for by their acquaintance, Umar Kremlev. Bettina Anderson-Trump herself revealed this following the publication of a ProPublica investigation. She called it a generous gift from a friend and stated that she sees no reason to apologize for it.
